The Chicken’s Top NFL Fantasy Picks for 2015

Fantasy sports have gotten huge in recent years, none more than Fantasy Football. And I along with it have found myself spending more time studying football stats than I did studying in school. (That’s just between you and me though, right?)  I’m pretty good at it too, if I do say so myself… I mean, I AM the defending champion in The League Of Extraordinary Mascots…

Now, before last year’s winning season, I had thought about discussing my strategy and top picks for the upcoming Fantasy Football Draft n a blog post but decided not to for the sake of my competitive edge. Well, after seeing my excellence as a fantasy coach ring true throughout the whole last season, I’ve decided my competitors could use all the help they can get when going up against me, The Dirt Cheap Chicken. So, here is a word or two on my strategy and my top three picks in every player category.

To my competitors: Not even this can save you…

To the rest: Bring your A-game and bring home the ship! (Championship that is…)

Strategy

Tip #1 Check the rules.

Tip #2 Check the rules.

Tip #3 Check the rules.

I could take this to 10 tips and they would still be the same. CHECK THE RULES! The fact is, every league is different in how they reward points. This will have a huge effect on the players you want to draft. For example, my first year coaching I was in a league that rewarded points per reception AND points per ten receiving yards. For this year, I had a pretty standard draft, two main Wide Receivers and Two Tight Ends. Last year the rules changed to only reward points per ten receiving yards and not per reception. After some research, I actually came to the conclusion that it would be better for me to load up on receivers without tight ends. That’s right! Not one tight end on my team… all season… and I WON, despite all of the criticism.

Now, I’m not saying you have to make drastic decisions like some of my competitors believe I did. (That Clark Cubby is such a whiner!) But, I definitely encourage you to read into how points are rewarded in your league. It may change up your whole draft strategy.
