Fine Wines: The Chicken’s Mid-February Wine List (Valentine’s Day)
I dont know about you, but Im kind of in love with a good bottle of tasty, cheap wine. And theres no better time to enjoy it than Valentines Day. So lets talk about some awesome wines that you can enjoy all month long.
Since Ive got your back, or should I say pallet, let me share a little secret with you. Heres how to drink fine wines: drink what you like and dont worry about it what the experts say. Did you know that on average, only one in 10 professional judges is consistent the rest of them just make it up as they go along? And in a study in France you know, the place that invented French Fries 54 of 54 experts couldnt tell the difference between white wine and the same wine colored to look red.
So dont worry about it. Trust your taste. Its the only judge that matters.
That said, heres what I do like to do find a good bottle of wine that fits my taste and that doesnt cost a wing and a drumstick. Or an arm and a leg. Here are a few fine wine brands that I like to curl up with:
Yellow Tail. If youre an Outback and Fosters kind of chicken, and who isnt, Yellow Tails the wine for you. Coming all of the way from Australia, you can get all sorts of different varietals, and all of them are bonzer. Thats Australian for good.
Sutter Home. Fine wines come from all over the world, but some of the best still come from Napa, and Sutter Homes one of them. With 18 different choices ranging from Cabernet Sauvignon to Zinfandel youre sure to find one you like. And if you want a little fizz in your Valentines Day, try some of their bubbly wines. Just dont burp. Too much. Unless youre hanging out with me. Im cool with it.
Freaky Muscato. You dont have to leave home to find freaky good wine. My good buddies, the St. Lunatics, dont just lay down freaky beats they also beat the heck out of grapes and turn them into wine. Freaky Muscatos sweet for your honey but has enough body for you. Along the way, its got some of those romantic bubbles that seem to go with Valentines Day.
Cul-De-Sac. You know the Chicken wont lead you wrong. I flew all of the way to California (boy are my arms tired!) and found this awesome wine and brought it back just for you. Cul-De-Sac is cheap $3.49 and good. Were proud to have it as our house wine. And Im proud to drink it. Just about every night.
Im not just a beer chicken. Sometimes, Im a sophisticated wine-drinking ground fowl. And when I want to pop a cork, I know that my selection of fine wines has what I need. Stop in and grab a bottle or a case and see for yourself!
