Cheap Beer: The Chicken’s Top 5 Beers for Hockey Season

Eh Der Hoser,

Hockey season is finally upon us! I can’t wait for the bone crushing hits, top shelf goals, and beer. Yes, I said it…beer. You know that ice cold refreshing, oh so delicious golden drink.

cheap beerI know, I can drink beer just about every day of the year. I mean heck, I’m the Dirt Cheap Chicken! But cheap beer and hockey season seem to go hand-in-hand. That’s why I’m looking out for you and putting together my inaugural list of top hockey beers.

Before you decide to drop your gloves and scrap over my beer choices, let me know on Facebook or on Twitter. No matter what you think, I won’t send you to the box.

Stag: “Golden quality since 1851”! I think that says it about Stag. This retro beer is local and carries a clean malt flavor with a light finish. Oh yeah, did I mention how manly this beer is! No need for a glass here.

Bud Ice: Dooby, dooby, doo! Do you remember the penguin? Well, I haven’t because I’ve been drinking Bud Ice since. This beer goes through an ice-brew process that gives it a distinctly sweet taste. I suggest getting this in bottles, it has an ice chiseled appearance.

Steel Reserve: Like its name, this high gravity lager is solid. Steel Reserve carries an 8.1 % ABV value, meaning it packs a punch.  The taste is slightly more bitter than most malt liquors and it has a cheap, cheap price.

Budweiser: No matter the season, the King is always in the house. Budweiser sets the standard for American lagers. You can’t go wrong when you grab some Buds.

PBR: Before hipsters starting drinking the golden deliciousness of Pabst Blue Ribbon, hockey fans proudly sported the beer. The taste is light and crisp, with a mildly bitter aftertaste. I’m not sure it’s possible to watch hockey, unless PBR is also nearby.

So, there you have it…my top 5 hockey beers. As usual, I’m always trying to help my customers out. These beers are good, but my cheap beer prices make them even better. My stores will have these beers nice and cold in the beer cave or cooler, ready for your party of one or one hundred!

If you’ve never been to Dirt Cheap, stop by and checkout my selection. You won’t be disappointed!

Also, don’t forget about the Lay an Egg Shutout with the Blues! Every time the Blues notch a home win by shutout, you can save $5 at Dirt Cheap that next day just by presenting your ticket. Click here for complete details.
